"Each layer of the game, from the grassroots to
the elite,
must be populated with excellent teachers of the game
who possess the appropriate attributes to positively aff ect the players and teams with
which they work.

Dedication to specialisation is central. Players who are
learning the game require
support and guidance  at each step along the player pathway with coach
eff ectiveness judged by the ability to make the game relevant and realistic to the age and stage of the players
or team." BMDSFA spacer

The 35th Season of providing football for young players, in Bradford, Craven, Keighley & Wharfedale

The League was formed in 1981 from clubs in the Craven area around Skipton. In the early days the majority of teams came from Colne, Barrowford, Gargrave, Skipton and Keighley. The league now covers four of the district football associations of the West Riding: Bradford, Craven, Keighley and Wharfedale. We also have some teams outside this area in particular -the Lancashire border around Colne, Pudsey and northern Calderdale. We occasionally accept teams from outside the area into our oldest age group if there are places available.

Naturally, there are more teams situated towards the urban areas - particularly Bradford, Shipley and Keighley. When applying to join the league a club should be aware that they could be playing away games anywhere on this map and this could involve some long journeys. The league organises football for young people in age groups under 7 to under 18. Where there are sufficient numbers, teams are divided up into divisions. There is promotion and relegation between sections each season.

Our aims are to encourage enjoyment and sportsmanship as much as winning. We run the league for the benefit of the member clubs and their players. We aim to respond to ideas and wishes. It is our intention to run an efficient as well as friendly league keeping everyone well informed. Normally home and away games are played. We may run supplementary competitions if fixtures have gone well to give our teams some extra games. All clubs award match points to their opponents and trophies are given out at the end of the season.
